System prompt

A system prompt is a set of instructions given to a language model at the start of a conversation, separate from user messages, that defines its role, rules, tone and constraints for the whole session.

System prompt sits in the Prompting & context part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.
