Stop sequence

A stop sequence is a string that, when generated by a language model, causes generation to halt immediately, used to end output at a known boundary such as a closing tag.

Stop sequence sits in the Prompting & context part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.

Also called stop token, stop word.
