Message roles

Message roles are labels such as system, user and assistant attached to each message in a chat conversation, telling the model who wrote each part and how much authority its instructions carry.

Message roles sits in the Prompting & context part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.
