Memory decay

Memory decay is a mechanism by which an agent's stored memories lose weight or are removed over time or with disuse, keeping memory stores relevant and preventing outdated information from dominating.

Memory decay sits in the Retrieval & memory part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.

Also called forgetting.
