Long-term memory

Long-term memory in AI agents is information stored outside the model, in a database or files, that persists across sessions and can be retrieved later to inform new tasks or conversations.

Long-term memory sits in the Retrieval & memory part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.

Also called persistent memory.
