Retriever

A retriever is the component of a search or RAG system that takes a query and returns the most relevant documents or passages from a collection, using keyword matching, vector similarity or both.

Retriever sits in the Retrieval & memory part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.
