Retrieval-augmented generation
Retrieval-augmented generation is a technique that fetches relevant documents from an external source and adds them to a language model's prompt, so answers draw on up-to-date or private information beyond its training data.
Retrieval-augmented generation sits in the Retrieval & memory part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.
Also called RAG.
