Dense retrieval

Dense retrieval is finding relevant passages by comparing dense embedding vectors of the query and documents, which captures meaning and paraphrase better than exact keyword matching.

Dense retrieval sits in the Retrieval & memory part of the Agentik {OS} glossary, which defines the words used to build and run AI agent systems.

Also called dense passage retrieval, DPR.
